Synopsis: Buumes“ is a typically Swiss story that could only take place in this country. The idea – remaining a proposition – namely that a couple “sneaks into” their neighbours’ homes by way of dinner invitations, is a satirical comment on Swiss neighbourly relations. “Buumes” are nice. Stettlers are nice as well. Everybody behaves nicely. Beneath those niceties, however, lies something ominous. Everybody has neighbours. “Buumes” is a movie about neighbourhood, about hospitality and what can go wrong, about closeness and too much closeness and the question “How nice is nice?”/
